Latest topics | Introducing myself and Guns & Dragons... Fri Aug 28, 2009 1:19 pm by RykketyStykks Hello all at Loaded-dice. I enjoyed myself last night, and I felt I didn't do a very good job at describing my club. Firstly, myself... I play plenty of both 40k and fantasy. 40k wise I have Tyranids, Dark Angels, The Eldar I took last night and I've started Daemons. Here is my Skulltaker ![]() Fantasy wise I have Bretonnians, though most of them are old generation models and so I am going to replace them. Their paint jobs are becoming embarrassing! I did start, but never got very far, doing a beasts of chaos army. With the rumours I've heard, I might be picking them up again soon. I also play a little bit of War of the Ring. Though I tend to stick to small points values which makes it an ideal game to squeeze in a spare hour or two. In short, I'm more of a collector and painter than a full on gamer. On to Guns and Dragons. The club was going pretty strongly this time a couple of years ago with at least a dozen members. Then a large number went to university. Then people got new jobs. We went down to 2 members at one point. However we hung in there, and new members started to appear. However, for some reason most of them didn't stay. We currently have 5 members and a 6th who is constantly saying he will come. We run on a sunday night from 5 to 8:30. This is the only time that all of us can agree on - even if I think it is retarded. If I change the time, we lose members and thus no club. But remaining at this time I think drives all potential interest away. So what do I do? Turn my back on current members in hope of new members? So this is where Morwellham comes in. I am going for a different angle than merely a "club night". Essentially, the club needs to charge premium rates just to break even and so people should get a premium club in return (think of the club like a product). I was going to ditch sunday night but then complaints from members forced me to do a compromise of running both. So to make this a premium club, Morwellham is run throughout saturday making it a great day out. This is ideal for younger people who don't have the commitments that adults do. Thus hopefully ensuring a regular set of members on which the club can grow. You can turn up in the morning, have a game, eat lunch in the Ship Inn or packed lunch, then have a second game before going home. All battles are to be fought over GW terrain (as I bought with me last night), and I wanted to do thematic stories for the days battles. Really making people feel apart of the club. Then the plan is to join the GCN. The stick in the spokes though is that we need 3 adults. We have three adults, but one of them cannot make to the meetings at Morwellham, and so I don't think it is appropriate to name him as an official. I've already purchased the Insurance, and there is littel point in me cancelling it as I'd have to pay the setting up fees of minimum £50 probably anyway. So now I've gone on long enough. There is lots of stuff going round and round in my head as to what to do with Guns and Dragons... Thankyou for reading! Steve Kirby Comments: 3 | Who is Online ?
